Happy 7th month! Haha Today is the first day of the chinese ghost month (--,) ghosts and spirits, including deceased ancestors are said to come out from hell to visit earth. People who believe are supposed to offer food, hell monies and other stuff to please the ghosts. (I heard incense for direction, candles for food? (wth who'd chose to eat candles when there are real food offerings)) On the 14th night the evil ones are released as it takes longer to get out from the lower levels of Hell.
Well, today I woke up for a short period of time because my mommy was furious. Apparently, she came home from shopping and our living room was filled with ash. We only live on the 3rd floor, so I guess all that burnt crap had flown in -__-....I acted like I was sleeping so she wouldn't nag her anger out on me. hahaha. But for the rest of the day the whole area smelled like smoke =.= As if Singapore wasn't polluted enough.....
Anyway, here are some mind boggling questions (inspired by SBF from ebuzz) for the Hungry Ghost festival:
1) Are the ghosts only Chinese or mixed race? 2) If everyone are millionaires in hell, who does all the work? 3) Who the hell (no pun intended) would eat candles when there are other food offerings? 4) Does burnt money reform its unburnt figure in hell? (and half burnt money?) 5) What happens if a ghost doesn't return to the gates on time? 6) What happens if you make a ghost angry?
Pam's recommended movie for this Asian festival, is 'The Maid'. Caught it last year during 7th month. LOL The plot and acting was not bad at all. Its about a plot to marry off a maid to a ghost during 7th month. Scariness is probably 3/5. Pam's overall rating is 2.8/5 :D
Credits to Gary and Phy for the first pic! Its from last Halloween! I thought it was suitible for this post (--,)
Today, I went to Central Mall (the new one) with Jayce because she wanted to buy a ring. I have to say, the rings at that store are quite nice! I forget the name now, but it had a Native American theme. The lady working there was pretty friendly and helpful too :D After a bit of walking, Jayce and I went to Marina Square to meet Grace for dinner! I was freaking hungry by like 8:30 lol. We ate at Changing Appetites. OMG its totally my new favorite place of eating. Its like italian/mexican inspired foods. (The only bad thing was that they took forever to cook the food, maybe feathering my chicken back there or something lol)
Grace and Jayce!
I had grilled chicken with bacon and cheese on top! It came with a side of cheese covered mashed potatoes and stir fried veggies! The portion was also quite big :D I cleaned my plate (except for the carrots lol) and didn't have an inch of space left in my tummy for dessert. (Although dessert definitely looked tempting...will try next time lol) Pricing was rather reasonable too! I think my main course was $14 without GST :D Pams overall rating is 4.5/5!
