Greetings loves! Its time for the post you've all been anticipating!!! Henrik and Pamela go to Berlin for Valentine's Day! Part 2 of 2! For updates, refer to the post below!

Day 3. Sunday the 15th of February 2009!

We woke up early ready for a relaxing day at the zoo! We had breakfast at a cafe recommended by some friends. The breakfast was yummy! I had toast, eggs and smoked ham! Henrik had the egg and fruit combo! The cafe was pretty cute and homely.

    baby just woke up
    my breakfast!
( I totally dropped half an egg yolk on his coat =x shhhh don't remind him! good thing it was waterproof and not my coat *runs away*)

After breakfast we went to the Berlin Zoo! The zoo is one of the largest and oldest in the world! Because it was the middle of winter, all the animals were in their warm houses indoors! Thankfully! So we didn't have to walk very far to see them all! hehehe. The zoo was so enjoyable to go through! All the animals were feisty that day! The elephants came up so close to look at us and stuck out its truck almost near enough for me to touch it! The monkeys swung up the the windows, fought, climbed, ate all just to entertain us! The lion was roaring in his cage and the best part was that I saw a panda bear! Bao Bao was a gift from China and one of the oldest pandas in captivity in the world! I'd never seen a panda before! he looked so cuddly! And he came so close to the glass! *happies* We also saw hippos and baby hippos!!! They were soooo cute! lol *loves+happies!*

    zoo exit!

After the zoo closed at about 5 when it got dark, we took a bus into the city! We checked out the Siegessaule- also known as the Berlin Victory column! On the way around it, we saw some interesting statues in the park. Also pretty well known historical statues. It seems like during the old times they really liked the Greek Gods!

I think the statue was some general
    Statue for Bismarck
greek god. Me thinks its Hephaestus ;)
    atlas
    Athena
    Victory Column!
    Victoria

At about 7, we went to a Synagogue's restaurant, Gabriel (recommended by Jimmy) not too far a walk from our hotel. It was kinda weird because we were the only ones having dinner there. And the waitress failed to tell us 90% of their menu was out of stock! but when the food came it was still pretty good! I had chicken rolled with butter and some vegetable, I forgot what Henrik had (just look at the picture below lol) and dumplings for appetizers!

    dumplings!
    the chicken!
baby trying to be cute because of how cute I am! =x

And just because it was too early to go home we went to a Jazz bar across the street called Quasimodo. Unfortunately they weren't playing jazz on the day we went -.-" So we saw a bunch of people going into the adjoining door. We checked it out and apparently there was an artsy movie going on. February is the month of the Berlin film festival! So why not? The tickets were sold out, but Henrik got some from people who were selling extra tickets! (probably because their friend couldn't make it or something) The theater was nice, but when the movie started we realized it was in polish with German subtitles. Not able to understand either, I tried to understand just by looking at what was going on. Baby knew some German though and explained some parts-so it wasn't all that bad! It was about a little girl who won a car but her poor parents wanted her to sell it and give the money to them....so there was some controversy ;)

    Irish coffee
    secret garden!

Afterwards we had a drink at the cafe and picked up some bratwursts before going back to the hotel! The bratwursts were sooooo delicious! I could eat one everyday! and they're only like 1 euro each! =)~~~

    Bratwursts and beer!!!
    me in the elevator!
idiot ruining my picture in the background!

    Day 4

Monday! we decided to check out some musems! But before that, we went to the TV tower! Theres 2 floors, one for viewing and the other has a revolving restaurant. The viewing gallery is about 204 meters (669ft) from the ground. *gasp!* It wasn't a very clear day as it was snowing, but you could still see quite a lot and recognize a few famous landmarks!

    the tv tower!
baby looking thoughtful about how they built the tower
there are 2 floors to the tower, the viewing gallery and the revolving restaurant!
    tada!
    good view
    more!
    baby is amazed!
    we had coffee!
    the overly tall tower club!
me and the tv tower bear!
a fury hat!famous fountain outside (which i thought was kinda ugly =x)
a huge musem we passed-still under rennovation

Afterwards we went to the Berliner Dome. Starting off as the castle's chapel in 1649, it was later the main church and burial place of the Prussian Dukes. Destroyed in the war, it was rebuilt in the 70s-80s. It was huge and beautiful inside! to the left and right of the main church there were some sarcophoguses of important people (kings, queens, princes, princesses etc). Above there was a huge organ and tourists could go to the second floor seats! woo hoo! The crypt was in the basement. Kinda creepy and there were a lot of baby coffins. I guess the life expectancy wasn't too high back then.

    Berliner Dome!
baby looking ghetto under the bridge over to the Berliner Dome! lolthe outside gate!
    the altarthe dome ceiling
the organme praying! momma would be so proud! 0=)baby lit a candle for a prayer too!

there were 2 of these! when I die *touchwood* I want one!
theres some kings wife and another important man in there!
another chapel-or whatever you call it- but smaller for less important people =xthe emperor's staircase!me looking majestic! lolthe crypt in the basement! wooooooo!
kinda morbid, but I like this one!
    a baby sarcophagus!
a big one! I think he was the kingvery important people's baby because she got a whole room to herself! and theres a painting in the back of the funeral
model of the musem.....there was a room on the top floor displaying the work they did to restore the place

Next we went to the Bode Musem, also on musem island. It had a lot of sculptures, Byzantine art and coins. It was very interesting! I had a lot of fun =D

    the Bode museum!
looks like hes dancing with the statues! lol
    mosaic
one of the many altar pieces (i think they robbed a lot of churches =x)

    saints
    back staircase!colorful painting
    big balcony

walking to a late lunch!.....................................at McDonalds!they had rosti in their burger! LOL

For dinner, we went to the most exciting place ever! Called the Unsicht-Bar, its famous and was visited by celebrities such as Matt Damon *loves and Natalie Portman! It is a restaurant in which there is no light, you eat in complete darkness. You have to manage and orientate yourself through the dinner without andy visual signals! We got to choose what we wanted to eat off a menu in the lit lobby though they don't tell you what your food is. Eg. beef=but you don't know how its cooked or what its sides are. Then our visually impaired waitress leads us to our table (made a train, shoulder to shoulder lol). At the end of the dinner there was a menu telling us exactly what we had. (I was correct for the main courses at least! LOL I had crab) All in all it was really fun, good learning experience. Can't say I'd love to do that permanently though. *touchwood*

To end the night we went to a bar called Dr. Pong. It was a shady looking bar with no indication/signboard on the outside. No internal decorations save for a pingpong table and a few couches + the bar. We heard about it from friends. LOL Sadly I got the most horrible gastric pains and we had to leave early =( I think it was a bit special, but definitely not a place for couple to hang out. Maybe for your best buds or girlfriends for a stupid drunk night! hahaha

me looking rather sickly I think =x
(baby looks drunk-although he was a sweetheart and took care of me when I felt like dying! *loves!*)

    Day 5

Our last day in Berlin was spent in the shopping district! We woke up late and checked out. Walked to Ka De Wee. The oldest and largest department store in Europe. It was about 6 floors and has everything you could want in there. Sadly, I couldn't afford anything in it. haha I did get a few souveniors before that though! We went to a street market to get some food. We had fried potatoes...it came with applesauce and some soup! hehehe food fest! We stoped at another mall to walk around. It had the coolest clock which used some sort of liquids and science to tell the time. lol On the way back to the hotel to pick up our luggage, baby bought some shoes and we had the last bratwurst before we left Germany! hehe

    Ka De We
    mini farmers market
    baby at the potato stand

Baby looks tired but I'm the one who slept! lolBerlin air!
    happy to be home!

I slept most of the way back to Denmark =D
Best vacation of my life! I love you baby! I look forward to spending many many more Valentine's Days with you! *kisses+ a lot of love!*
