So I land on the 11th of August and my baby is at the airport to pick me up! Supposedly, August is the the hottest time of the year- or at least one can assume so. When I got off the plane, it was freaking freezing!!! I think it has alot to do with the wind because when it isn't so strong its actually a very nice temperature! So anyway, my life has actually gotten kind of boring lacking car chases and all. lol Mostly because I have almost no friends here, I don't leave the house on weekdays, Henrik is at school till 6 or sometimes 8 after work, Its too expensive to do impluse, mindless shopping, its too expensive to eat out most of the time. Europe is bananas. So anyway, I will highlight things we've done!
- We took a canal tour on a boat! It was a nice, long open air boat-the center was sheltered but with the choce to open the window. We sat in the front so we had better viewing! hehehe The day was so beautiful-a little chilly- and the buildings were colorful and bright! The boat tour took us to a lot of important sites of Copenhagen. The royal Danish theater, the opera house, the little mermaid, a museum for the royal collection of sculptures (Theres a replica of David on the outside that you might have seen in my pictures from Dec-Feb), The black diamond library and many other buildings. We even got to see the Danish Queen's ship that she uses for traveling around Denmark and a Navy ship (now used as a museum).

Note: I quite liked our tourguide. She was very informative and spoke 3 different languages....But it really bothered me how she was practically pressing the mic to her mouth. Its a microphone not an ice cream cone!
- We had a wonderful day at the park near our apartment. Theres a people area and a dog walking area, but most people just let their gods run in the people area. There were actually quite a lot of dogs there! From pugs to racing dogs. It was soooo cute!!! Henrik and I brought hot chocolate, cookies and grapes for our little picnic. *Loves* I so want a mini yorkshire terrier!
- We made steamboat with the steamboat I got for him because the previous winter I was craving and there was none and no place we could get it!!! It really cool, it had a pot for soup or a flat pan we can grill on! hehehe

the more sexxxy a man is, the better the food tastes!

- We made the biggest, most delicious strawberry tart for Henrik's parents! It was actually kind of easy. We had like 2 pounds of fresh strawberries in it! yummm!!!
- At Henrik's parent's place they had the most adorable little garden in their backyard! They had berries, apple trees and vegetables. You could totally eat the berries right off the bush! Bente also had really nice flower shrubs around the house. Absolutely beautiful! We sat outside with the grill. It was kind of a cold day, but in Denmark you have to make use of all the sun you can get!!! lol There was gift giving from us with all the stuff we bought in Vietnam. I had such a good time, I like it when everyone is happy!

baby plucked apples! Søren (Henrik's daddy) is in the back probably plucking some too! yummm

berries

I have o idea what these are, but they were fluffy and I liked them!

- Henrik and I went to the Viking museum at Roskillde!! Arrrg!!! It was actually quite interesting. There was a building where they showed us how particle from viking ships that were found are preserved, studied and used to make replicas.

where they reserve and study pieces of viking wood
In the back there are little sheds displaying some craftsmen's crafts such as wood carving, basket weaving/box making and a blacksmith.

wood work

Floating in the water further up is a huge viking ship. It was remade by tools they used back then in the same way, same fashion and everything. They basically replicated the entire ship and the making of it. A group of people and scientists even sailed the ship to Ireland, trying to feel what it would've been like being a viking. Cool Beans!

My personal viking!
Whose beard actually has some red and brown in it LOL

Finally, theres a big square building with actual skeletons of Viking ships that were found in the Roskillde area. It was really interesting. There were stories of war and how the Vikings lived. There was even a room where we could dress up like one!

real viking ships!!...or at least pieces of them

to be or not to be.......................

....................a VIKING!!!

To be!
- We went through a park in Roskillde on the way home. It was a very nice scenic walk with a field of overgrown grass and mustard plants, the steeples of the Roskillde church in the distance.

cute little park with a shortcut *brows*

hehe I took Dumbo from Henrik's room....he got it from Euro Disneyland, his mom exposed him as a big stuffed animal fan.....and now, I'm exposing him to you!!! muahaha!!!

field of mustard

Roskillde itself looked different in the "summer"* with its bright flowers and colorful buildings. I really love the cobblestone streets and brick buildings. It gives the city a really cozy, historical feel.

train station! the sculptures to the left of the picture definitely look better in the day time lol
*Sorry, I had to put summer in quotations because I don't believe that summer should be cold =x
On the way to the train station, we stopped to get some flødeboller at the chocolate shop!!! Yummm!!! They're danish chocolate covered marshmellows. Theyre shaped like a long dome. We got one original and one with coconut sprinkles!

I'll take you to the candy shop!

flødeboller!

my love!!!

on the train

Interesting fact #1. Chocolate covered marshmellows were created 200 years ago in Denmark!
Interesting fact #2. Denmark is the world's largest producer of chocolate covered marshmellow treats. It makes about 650 million treats, 400 are sent abroad and the remaining 250 is for the Danish population (+me!) to consume!- Thats about 50 flødeboller per Dane per year!!!
*Pam wonders why Denmark is such a little known country throughout the world because of the cool things its people have invented.
- I visited baby at work one day and had dinner by the lake in the city. We had delicious pasta while watching the ducks chase each other.

here's baby eating and being angry (which I don't relly remember why) at me

the lake with all the duckies

the central train station we passed
- We went to this parking lot baby was supposed to check on for work with an amazing view of the city from the roof! lol we were pretty close to the marble church.....which I haven't been to yet. *coughbabyhinthintimsureyoujustforgotcough*
- I visited baby another day while he was on the job. We went to Frederiksborg Palace! Built by King Christian IV (replacing one by Frederik II) is the largest renaissance castle in scandinavia.

at Hellerup

late baby ducklings!!! awwww!!! so cute!!

the castle

crossing the moat and through the entrance

freaking amazing square
(and we hadn't even gotten to the entrance yet!)

finally in the inner cortyard

walking towards the back
Behind the Castle is its huge baroque formal garden. It was so incredibly beautiful!!! Its definitely a place I wouldn't mind hanging out or having a picnic at. There were 4 large maze like designs of the initials of 4 Kings and queens of Denmark that were important to the design of Frederiksborg. There were fountains and statues and gravel paved pathways ending with a pond surrounded by well-trilled trees. The garden was probably one of the most beautiful I've ever seen!
- Baby made Danish chicken for me one day! It was a whole roasted chicken with a cream sauce, peas and lettuce. Its absolutely drool-worthy!!! I could eat it for days!!!

baby butt-raping a chicken with herbs

cutting the chicken to mix with vegetables

tada!
- We went to a concert in the city square with Lasse! The concert was for these iraqui people who were taken from a church by the police and deported though the EU rules state they should have asylum......apparently Denmark didn't think so....but its people did! So several bands held a concert in protest. I think its so cool that people can organize a protest like that within several days and have a huge outcome.
- I made a lemon meringue pie! It rocked my socks! And I'm pretty sure henrik and his friends liked it too! =D

- We went to the park near our house for a walk. We saw people playing bike polo.....I think its like the ghetto version of polo. hahaha
- I made cordon Bleu for dinner one night, a chicken pie another night. Baby loved it all!! Its always so much more of a joy to cook for people who appreciate it! *HINT HINT NUDGE NUDGE FAMILY!*

Cordon Bleu

my favorite chicken pie!
- We went to a surprise party for one of Henrik's friends who was gong to the US on exchange for half a year or so. It was cute. There were a couple of fun people! :D

Kristian and Anas

he is obviously surprised lol
- Henrik brought me out to eat at one of the resturants by the river! They were having a special because of the Copenhagen food festival. It was so great! The ambience was nice. We sat outdoors so we could watch the boats and the people. The wind was rather chilly and the restaurants had put up heaters on the outside hanging from the umbrellas. I thought it was cute because its like the total opposite of Singapore where they put up fans! The food was delicious! It was traditional danish food of salad for the appetizer, pan fried flat fish for the main course, some sort of after dinner course of cheese, darkbread and honey-nut sauce and rødgrød med fløde for dessert (which is sourberry pudding with cream). I really loved the fish and the rødgrød med fløde. The salad was plain and could've used more dressing and the after dinner cheese course was weird...I liked the honey nut sauce and some of the cheese though! Thanks baby! dinner was wonderful!

al fresco dining!

right next to the water

love it!

starter: salad

main: fish and potatoes

after dinner course: weird cheese, dark bread and nutty honey sauce

dessert: sourberry pudding with cream
- Last but not least, we went to McDonalds to get some french fries because I brought a pak of seaweed shaker from Singapore because it is the best salt mix to ever touch McDonalds and I wanted baby to share my feelings for the flava! hehe
*Please ignore the huge-ass pimple I had for the month of August. The giant mother-trucker came at me with a vengence......most likely karma for laughing at people who break out =x

Fact: The founders of skype were Danish and Swedish. Skype rocks my socks!
Pam detests: Attention seekers on Facebook who posts every move they make in their status. News Flash!! NO ONE CARES WHEN YOU TOOK A DUMP!!! AND NO ONE CARES ABOUT HOW SAD OR DISTRESSED YOU'RE FEELING over something you won't tell us openly about!
Pam wants you to know: I'm making my own halloween costume this year!!!! I'm so excited!!!! You'll have to wait for the Halloween pics to see it though!!! Also, I'm bloody jealous that my loves in Singapore get to party without me :'( No matter, I will throw a funner one! =p
