Jeez! I blink an eye and I'm already 2 weeks behind in posts! Time does fly faster after you turn 20! Another thing people told me when it was too late (Along with the life is going to be more difficult than anticipated)!!!

Anyway, this month has been a crazy busy-exciting month. We're packed with activities every single weekend! Of course, it starts out with Singapore's independence day! it came with an extended weekend and we had a bbq! about 20 people showed up for some very good times! We also had a surprise birthday cake for EddIE as this old man was turning another year old! hehehe!

    super excited!
    preparing!

    bbq!!!!
lennart came with magic wallet gifts from HK!!!
super delicious crabs! (I think I ate like 4 by myself =x)

    boys boys boys!
    surprise cake!!! So old!
wishing very hard for his soccer team to win!
    playground hanging!

Unfortunately our bbq had to end at 12 because the Condo's rules are super retarded, without reasoning or common sense and controled by old farts (the "committee") who have nothing better to do on a long weekend than to ruin young people's fun. I figure, these Committee members- who are uncontactable- are just people who are wealthy but needed to feel more important than they really are. Ohhh Singapore and its bureaucracy! I've decided the only was to live in Singapore is to A) Be filthy rich so that no committee or people can stop you from doing what you want, or at least have people go out of their way to accommodate you or B) Still be filthy rich and get your own landed property with your own gas grill. But that is just my opinion.

Ah well, we had an awesome time anyway! We ended the night at Holland V's 24 hour coffee bean- who were much more accommodating. Like I always believe: Its not the situation/location, its the people you're with! *Love you all!*

On the actual day of Singapore's 45th Birthday (oh what a youngen), of course we had to go see fireworks! The pastry and I met up with EddIE, Gary, Wendy and Jacky at the new Marina Bay Sands riverside walking area. It was the perfect spot to see all the fireworks! The National Day Parade even marched by the area we sat at! And there was still movable space! I'm guessing by next year (or maybe even NYE) it won't be so easy to get a clear spot anymore.

    ready for the fireworks!eddIElove picnics!

Very much like communist countries or one with a dictatorship......marching band
pretend army because when the supervisor left they started to giggle and whisper lol
umbrella corpsumbrella girl scoutswe really like umbrellas in singaporepretend guns
advertizing as part of the parade.....tsk tsk. shame shame!! I've never seen anything like it!
The fireworks this year were one of the best I'd seen in Singapore. There were fireworks going off from the top of the skyscrapers and all around. (probably because they wanted to impress the YOG members this year, but nontheless, Amazing!) I totally loved it! My favorites were definitely the star shaped ones which are impossible to get on camera! *happies*

    skyline!

We checked out Shanghai Dollies at Qlarke Quay (where the old Bellini Grand use to be). It was not really my thing. The whole interorior was really plush and nice, but the crowd was old and into canto pop. There were dirty old men everywhere and ah lians and ah bengs and eye damaging 40 year old pole dancers. But hey, if we never try, we'd never know ;) I just wont be going back...at least not out of free will ;)

    the gang!
    *loves*
crazy stage with old ppl dancing on it!
    girls!

My pastry made a lasagna for me! We couldn't find the normal Bechamel sauce, so we put some ready made Italian white sauce mix- which was actually quite delicious ;)

And I made stuffed fish fillets for him! I had made seafood stuffing (crabsticks, shrimp, celery, breadcrumbs, onions, squash fried with chicken stock and herbs), wrapped them in white fish fillets seasoned with salt and paprika! Then they were baked for about 45 minutes at 190 degrees celcius. Yumm!

I had high tea with Jayce one day at Royal Copenhagen Tea longue (Takashimaya level 2). The ambience is very cosy with comfy chairs and a nice view or orchard as one whole wall was just a big window we could look out. Our food was served on Royal Copenhagen porcelin which I really liked because it gave the place a classy charm. I would've prefered if the girl at the next table hadn't taken off her shoes and put her feet up on the chair, but I guess I can't really blame the restaurant for their customer's lack of class! It's a good thing their tables are nicely spaced ;)

We had the high tea set for two which included a cup of tea for both persons, 1 slice of quiche, 1 slice of cake/tart, 2 smorrebrod (openfaced sandwhiches) and 2 scones. The quiche was ok, not the best I'd eaten but acceptable as was the crust. For our cake/tart option, we chose the blueberry tart. It was absolutely amazing! It had just the right ammounts of sweet and I could still taste the cream cheese. The tart's pastry was just melt in your mouth perfect! Yum!

The 2 sandwhiches came 1 tuna and one shrimp. I've always liked salad shrimp because theres a fresh feeling about them (though I know they're soaked and preserved). And the tuna mound was equally as good with just the right ammount of fish roe on top. I've always told the pastry that Smorrebrod is a Dane's excuse to eat the filling and not the bread!

Finally, I was super amazed with the scones! They were so buttery and baked to perfection! I hadn't had such good scones in awhile! They served it with butter, danish jam and freshly whipped cream. I loved the Danish jam (avalable at cold storage for $7), all gooey and flavorful! I'd love tea there any day!- Jayce just made the whole experience better! :D

We brought the pastry out for his virgin Dim Sum session! Hong Kong-nese are very fond of this chinese brunch/high tea. Dim Sum usually involves small portions of steamed foods (dumplings, yam cake etc.) And I love it!! We went to the Tung Lok Buffet at the Arena Country Club (Jurong). I'd seen better spreads, but this was pretty good in value and variety. Henrik tried Chicken feet for the first time too! I am so proud of my white man. I would NEVER touch that stuff with a 10 foot pole. We ate till we could swallow no more! mmmm shrimp dumplings :D

discussing whether to order more foods!

Good thing Lun was driving because after the ammount I ate I'd have to be rolled on any other type os transportation! The remaining 5 of us (me, Henrik, Lennart, Lun and Lev) had nothing better to do on the warm, wet, Sunday afternoon, so Lun took us on an exploratin adventure of the Western side of Singapore! We drove through Jungles and amy camps. We walked on the creepiest dock facing malaysia (Yes, literally the edge of Singapore) and stopped for a potty break infront of Johor Baru. We could totally see that whole malaysian city!

road trip!random scary rickety dock people fish off of!
    helloooo malaysia!

We then had a nice time at the Rail Mall's Coffee Bean, and later drove to Portsdown road(Wessex area) for drinks. We found the cutest little Colbar in the middle of some dense forrestation. I think its the only ordinary building (not fancy houses/hotels) left from the colonial era. Cool beans. I heard the food is good there too! And It's be a great place to take pictures. Theres also a couple of charming looking Italian restaurants around- remind me to ask my bf to bring me there for dinner one day ;)

We ended the night at Kent Ridge Park snacking and chatting. Great friends, Great times!

We celebrated daddy's birthday!! Old in human age, but still young at heart! I took this chance to go to TGI Fridays! Where everyday is Friday! LOL I've been wanting to go so badly since it opened in Singapore. A lot of nostalgic reasons for me to go there that maybe you wouldn't understand- or maybe you would. Either way, this TGI Fridays has kept to its American franchise by having super American food, service, interior decorations and even the on-the-house birthday sundae!

We had 2 of the Friday's 3 for all platters because they were delicious! Plus a quesadilla that was kindly REPLACED (Yes Singapore, replaced. Not just reheated and returned) when we told them the middle was cold. I had the chicken and shrimp which were amazing and cooked to perfection! The rest had steaks and fish that they really liked too! After dinner was completed, the polite staff (who asked us mid-meal if everything was alright and if we needed anything - also super American) promptly cleared our plates and brought out the birthday Sundae! True to TGI Friday's style, they had the birthday song PLUS their own special birthday song and cheer! That was very fun! We ordered more desserts to accompany the sundae and the cheesecake, peanutbutter pie and brownie with ice cream were amazing! Loved it! It is a tad pricey, but for my happiness, I think it's pretty much worth it! :D

If most of you don't know already, Gary is going to Taiwan to study Chinese for 3-9 months! (Ok, we all also know it's just an excuse to get out of this country and chase Taiwanese tail because Singaporean girls aren't good enough for him) So we had a goodbye dinner at ECP lagoon where he could try all the foods that he will be missing for awhile! Then the 13 person group went to TCC at Clarke Quay as out outdoor plans were ruined due to rain. It was still a fun gathering though! My "summer" drink had strange dried flowers in it, but still yummy. Anyway, we wish Gary the best of luck with the girls! *xoxo*

August is definitely the month for birthdays because we celebrated Ravin's birthday AND have another celebration next weekend!! Ravin held his party at the new Marina Bay Sands! Henrik and I arrived in the late afternoon after a busy morning to chill out at the very celebrated viewing deck. The view was everything amazing that people had proclaimed. The infinity pool was equally as awestriking giving the illusion of falling at the building's edge (not good for people who are afriad of heights), deck chairs lining the side. One could pretty much see the whole inner city of Singapore and then some. It never struck me to how small the island actually is till then! Very cool!

insideprobably the best view of singapore in singapore!infinity pool!
    the edge!! dundundun!!!
    so close to the sun!
    peaking over the edge!
    super sexxxy!!!back/balcony view

The only problems I had with that deck was the lack of exclusitivity. The pool area was definitely too small for a hotel that could hold so many people (unless they had another hidden somewhere). There were all sorts of people ranging from the ultra rich and snobby to "honeymooning" couples insistant on bringing the biggest camera ever into the pool to the ah bengs doing shallow backflips off the edge and the group of obnoxious teenagers who obviously pooled money for a room just for the experience I guess. That's all still ok as they were guests of the hotel, until as I was tanning on my deck chair, and noticed all the OTHER people who paid $25/hour just to go up and view the city (as if they hadn't seen it from the flyer or any of the other tall buildings before- but ok, this was from another angle). These people were not allowed in the pool area, so they litterally leaned and hovered over the people chilling out on the deck chairs. I could hear every word they were saying! Wierd! Anyway, we ordered Juice and beer which was pretty delish and perfect with the setting sun, watching all the city lights go on!

    city lighting upguava juice!
jacuzzi in the walking area (not so private....very wierd place to put it)

Around 8pm when all Ravin's guests arrived to the room, we started the food and drinking games, escalating to a pole dancing crash course and of course cake cutting. The night only ended when someone threw up and we had to shower him and put him to the stripped (we removed the sheets) bed (Helloooo NYE 2007 all over again! lol Phy!). He then woke up at like 3+am and drunkenly rambled about how he would die for his country- but they treat him like shit, to crying about hungry children in Africa. Funniest Drunk I'd ever seen! I hope they post videos soon ;) Anyway, I hope Ravin had a great birthday and wish him another terrific year older!

We had so much to drink on Saturday we didn't wake up at home until 5pm on Sunday and ordered Sarpino's pizza for dinner! Good times!
