    Happy Valentine's Day Loves!!!

Greetings loves! This month has been muchos busy with Chinese New year and all (look for my future posts for updates on that!)!! Then there was Valentine's Day yesterday!! As some of you know, I like making things instead of buying for V-day. This year I made etched wine glasses and bought a bottle of wine to to with :D I also made red velvet cupcakes for Henrik's office to spread the love!! Look for these recipes at the end of the post!

Valentine's Day this year was wonderful!!! Henrik had secretly (or attempted to) bought my favorite types of breakfasts! He woke up super early in the morning to make me sausages, bacon, eggs and toast! YUM!! The house still smells like honey smoked bacon!! lol There was even my favorite Swissmiss hot chocolate with the mini marshmellows! *happies*

For dinner, my love took me to Soprano at Portsdown Road! This year was super nice because I didn't have to plan anything for the day as Henrik had made reservations in secret. I only knew where we were going when he told the taxi driver where to go :D The place was very charming, Italian style, not too crowded with outdoor and indoor seating. We had a meat and cheese appetizer which was super amazingg!!! There were 4 different kinds of ham and 4 different types of cheeses. YUM! I liked them all!! even the blue cheese was surprisingly yummy as it wasn't too heavy!

    Starter platter!! Yummmm!!!

The main course was amazingg!! I finally got my ravioli that I had been craving since foreverr!! I had it in a cheese sauce! I kinda wished I got a tomato based sauce because the cheese sauce was very heavy, but it was still super delicious! Henrik had pasta with truffle and mushroom cream sauce which was amazing as well! *happies* to top off dinner, we had the tiramisu dessert! only one of my favorite desserts in the world!! I still like the one from Pasta Fresca Da Salvatore better though.....mmmmm have to go there soon (--,) The cutest thing at Soprano was the serenader that came to each table to sing a song. We got "hold your hand" by the Beatles. *loves!*

    My raviolis!!! *loves*
    Baby and his pasta!! yumm!!
    the crooner :D
    Tiramisu dessert!!

We ended the night with drinks at Barosso (ex-Al Dente- they got renovations and a new concept ;)) because their Archipelago beers are of reasonable pricing! The staff there is very sweet! I wanna go on a Wednesday to try their new all you can eat beef buffet!! Australian tri-tips are on the menu!! Anyway, I had a really awesome night! Thanks Baby!! I love you the mostest!!

Oh and if anyone was wondering what else I got, my Pastry bought me tickets to the Lion King Musical!!! Its coming to Singapore at the Marina Bay Theater and its only one of my life's dreams to see it! hehehe!! I'm super happy and super excited!!! I Love Love Love you honey!!

    Wine Glass Etching

    What you will need:
    • Etching cream (available at any art store)
    • Paint brush
    • sticker sheet and marker (unless you buy ready made sticker stencils)
    • Scissors
    • A water source

First I traced and cut out stencils from the sticker paper. Then it is stuck onto the glass.
Tip: make sure that your sticker is stuck on all the way at all the edges because we don't want any leakage. Reinforce with tape.

Next, paint a thick layer of etching liquid onto the empty stenciled space. Let your glass object sit face up and dry for about 20 minutes (the etching liquid's package says 60 seconds, but I find 20 minutes better and the results are more bold).

When ready, peel off the tape and stencils and wash off the remaining stencil cream. Dry.

Tada!! You can do whatever patterns or monograms you like. And all of it turn out amazing! Good for gifts, decorations and wedding favors ;)

    Red Velvet Cupcakes

    What you need:
    • 1 1/4c cake flour
    • 60g butter
    • 150g granulated sugar
    • 1 egg
    • 1/2tsp vanilla essence
    • 1 tbs red dye
    • 1 tbs cocoa powder
    • 1/2c buttermilk (I used 1/2c milk and 1/2tbs vinegar to replace it)
    • 1 tsp vinegar
    • 1 tsp baking soda

    1. Sift the flour and cocoa powder together in a bowl.
    2. In another bowl, mix the butter and sugar together till fluffy, then mix the egg until incorporated. Then beat in the vanilla extract.
    3. In a third bowl, mix the buttermilk and red dye.
    4. Whisk together the flour and dye mixture into the butter mixture in three parts, starting with half the flour, all the dye and the rest of the flour. Make sure each part is fully mixed in before adding in the next part.
    5. Combine the vinegar and baking soda until it bubbles and quickly mixing it into the batter. Then divide the batter into prepared baking cups.
    6. Bake at 175 degrees for 20 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool before frosting ;)

Tada!! I used my favorite cream cheese frosting and sprinkles to spiff them up! (too bad I couldn't find heart shaped or pure red sprinkles :( but the boys loved them anyway!)
