Father's Day and other June Days!

Happy Belated Father's Day to all the wonderful fathers in the world! We celebrated Father's Day a week afterwards because everyone was pretty busy on the actual Sunday. I prefer celebrating it off anyway because reservations are easier to make, prices are normal and the crowd compelled to celebrate the event is not there!

So on Saturday, the family gathered at Sofra for dinner. I was incredibly impressed with their food and service last time when Ahmet brought us there and I expected the same this time. However, unfortunately weekends seem to be a bad time to visit. Service is slow and horrible, even the owner didn't get my order for 3x baklava (which sucked) right. Good thing the company was amicable and pleasant to be with though! And the main courses were still alright. :) The night was spent playing boardgames and "family bonding" LOL. I love you all!

The main reason for staying over that night was to make breakfast for daddy!! After a lot of pestering him about what kind of present he would like for Father's Day, he finally told me that the fondest memory of Father's Day is when I made breakfast for him! So that is what I did! This year, I stepped it up a notch by making Eggs Benedict! My ultimate favorite brunch food! So heavy but so Yummy! I even ran to Cold Storage to get fresh English muffins in the morning! mmm And the turned out so much better than the last time!...the key is in the butter whipping ;) well, and maybe the tarragon. hehehe Anyway, I daddy really liked it!

I topped off my feeding frenzy with High Tea in the afternoon. I made macaroons filled with a hazelnut chocolate sauce (also known as Nutella because I was lazy LOL) with the leftover egg whites from the Hollandaise sauce. YUM! Talk about guilt! And of course some finger sandwiches and fruit. British peoples' excuses to eat are genius.

    fancy!

Other exciting oven-baked treats I've accomplished were a huge batch of cinnamon rolls! I'm particularly proud of these because they turned out so well for my first time! They rose for 2 hours perfectly, were filled perfectly and were baked perfectly! Well, there were still a few things I could do better, but you wouldn't have noticed anyway!

    tada!
My 2 batches of dough after 1.5 hours of rising!! *loves*

Oh and don't forget my ever easy white chocolate chip cookies *loves*

Thanks to my awesome housemate Simon, we discovered a very exciting eating place at Gim Moh this June! We discovered some of the best burgers in Singapore! The place is at a random coffee shop and is called De Burg. Generous with the meat, has real awesome lettuce and cooked to perfection! Theres options of more meat, portabello, proper bacon, peanut butter and many other things you could get in a burger. Even the side of fries were amazing! *Happies* We will definitely go back often!

    My Boys!
    YUM!

Another fun place we visited was the restaurant at Seletar airbase for their infamous chicken wings that go up in spice levels all the way to 30!! We had 0, 1 an 3! and boy 3 was already getting there!! 1 was very delicious though, just the right amount of spice, sour and flavor. The rest of the food I could've given a miss though. Experience was A+ but for food, and hygiene, I think I will stick to hooters!

    oohh spicy spicy!

I had a random day out with Pingy when she wanted to check out the new Clementi mall. The mall is actually not amazing, no nice food and I generally hate heartland malls, but good company always makes my trip awesome! :) We had Long John Silvers for dinner, at which I over ordered and made the mistake of getting their cheese fries. Gross. Also, the cashier was super tiko (aka borderline pervert or dirty old man- though he wasn't so old). Anyway, super good times! *love*!

In other firsts, I gave blood for the first time! I figure, since no one in my immediate family can do it, I should pick up the slack and help save someones life right? lol The process is long to sign up a get in, but I guess better safe than sorry right? I was always really afraid of giving blood because I'm not a big fan of needles, but I guess I felt it was time to get over this fear and so something nice. I do after all, have quite a lot of it to spare ;)

Turns out, that it wasn't painful at all! There was a small ant-bite feeling in the beginning, but later I could see blood but not feel anything! Cool Beans. I did have 2 "poke scars" for the next 2 weeks though. But that's just me, I don't heal so fast lol. The nurse says I have nice big veins. Compliment? I guess so! I can donate again in 3 months! Anyone needing A+ blood just give me a call! hehehe

P.S. There weren't any cookies or juices being offered after the donation like you see on tv and hear other people had. Sadded! (ok, but I did take an apple juice from the volunteer table because my hand was cold and numb).

Many thanks to my love Jayce for the tings from Korea! The lip balm is amazing and just what I needed!! I love you and know that you had an amazing time there! Jealous!!
