    Singapore's National Day 2011!

    This year, National day was warm (family wise), busy and as usual- full of fun!

    Working up to the date, Henrik and I brought my brother to this science talk sponsored by NUS and the Singapore science center "6 billion years". It was actually quite interesting....though I did see Ahmet taking a little nap in there (--,)

    Afterwards we took Ian to dinner at Hippopotamus! A little French chain as a prelude to Paris! They had pretty yummy steaks there!! Plus a choice of two different sides. I definitely want to go there again ;)

    NDP decorations on our walk after!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    We had a National Day BBQ with my family at Pandan Valley! I love bbqs and I think we should do it more often! Some of the family came over earlier to play basketball and swim. I prepared all the food including shrimp, stingray, meat patties, chicken wings, potatoes, sausages and more! phew! Aunty Helen made mini fruit tarts and cream puffs! YUM! It was really nice though, I think everyone had fun. At least I did!!
    SDP's National Day Partay!!! I was the co-MC again! :D It was fun! We had a good buffet, a good auction and generally a good time! There were a couple of Presidential candidates that came to give speeches which were interesting. If you missed your chance to buy tickets for this event, make sure you buy early for the next one! ;) *loves*
    On the actual National Day, we bought Wendy's and headed to Grace's office in the CBD area to watch the fireworks from the 40th floor! Amazing!!
    Other randoms: There was a girls night out with Pingy and Nichelle! We had Astons again! lol I guess we really like that place! three times within a week! Phew! lol But it was delicious! Good times :)
    Awesome weekends (Part 2)
    Hello my loves!! I'm counting down the days before my European Vaca!!!
    But in this week we've had very exciting activities!! The weather still staying beautiful, allowed me, Henrik, Grace, Ron, Taco and Ben to spend a day on Pulau Ubin! We took a ferry boat ride over the the island and rented bikes for our trip! Trust me, $10 bikes don't really have a difference to the $6 bikes, but I'll draw the line at the $4 bikes ok? lol
    getting on the boat!on a bike!
    rest after going up and down hills!
    Yup, Still in Singapore!
    Charming little cottage built by some rich man
    touch screen museum!
    my loves!
    We cycled around reservoirs and nature and eventually reached the wetland area or whatever they like to call it. There, there was a walking tour through some designated paths through an old museum thing and through the dirt (clean hiking ;)). Things are fairly interesting with wild insects and fruits on trees, but not as exciting as the website said. I guess its like that for most national parks around the world though.
    into the wetlands!
    to the ocean!
    pretty reservoir
    After our very sweaty- but productive- day on the island, we had dinner at one of the restaurants there. I had ate there like 4/5 years back and was happy to see that they had renovated and things looked much more sanitary lol. The food was delicious and we got to sit right next to the beach. Loved it!! I recommend people who go there to eat there as well! Its the clean looking one next to the old Chinese theater ;)
    dinner!
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Another fun event was my girls' day out with Nichelle! We had Coffee Bean's breakfast in the morning and headed out to Sentosa for the day!! Phew the sun was scorching, but we had a good time going though magazines and chit-chatting. Sentosa is such a happening place now! A real tourist trap I must say. The entire beach at Siloso is filled with bars competing in music and overpriced activities.

    YUM!!
    to the beach!!
    love! lol look how tan I got in 3 hours!

    Afterwards, we headed to Tanjong Pagar to get our nails done at Nail Palace where Nichelle's sis had some membership she wanted to get rid of. Good for us! lol I never tried the nail chain before because they seemed unfriendly, and boy am I glad I didn't have to pay for this pedicure! The small shop was true to most of its online-forum complaints. The staff was rather unfriendly and the place didn't look clean, nor were their chairs very comfortable. They did the strangest thing by wrapping the sink in a plastic bag for me to place my feet in to soak (for hygienic reasons I hear? -but other places I go to wash their sinks...just saying). Their only saving grace was that they didn't hard-sell towards us like all their other stores do. However, the lady who did my nails buffed my feet so hard my previously un-cracked heels became cracked the next day and she even split my middle toe! (This meaning that my skin under the joint of my toe had ripped open, which hadn't happened to me since I was a kid and played too rough) THAT had never happened to me at a nail parlor before! Though the paint job was nice, I don't think I'll ever go back. Oh and base and top coats are BYO- or they charge extra. WTF.

    Anyway, that done, we had a delicious dinner at Astons! Mmmm steak! At Astons its pretty much always worth the money in portions and in deliciousness. Good times :D

    Medium Rare. Love it!

    Another girls' night out was with Pingy and Catherine!! We had dinner at Astons again. LOL I love that place! And then we saw The Beginning of the Planet of the Apes! It was actually a pretty good movie with a good storyline, graphics and cute actors ;) Pam's rating is 4.8/5

    Ikea day with the family!! One day I insisted on going to Ikea for lunch and item shopping, so daddy brought me! hehehe I love the chicken wings! Also, I discovered the princess cake! I love its fluffiness! YUM!

    meh chicken hot dogs....
    but we also discovered these new salmon rolls! Nice! And Healthy I think! ;)
    Princess cake!!!! *loves*
