Greetings from Denmark my loves! Last post of 2008! =D

My plane ride on Sunday -> Monday was not bad. I had a fun trip. The only thing that came close to being a problem was the Bangkok airport. OMG it is sooooo big! I had no idea where to go to transfer planes! there were signs for transfer everywhere!! Plus I was holding my super heavy laptop bag =.= I wandered around for like an hour because there seemed to be no staff to ask. I told myself if i don't find it 20minutes before the gate closes, I'd ask some random counter. I found it by myself....................all the way at the other end!!!! Apparently their airport is ginormoous and I'm pretty sure I had walked a mile or 2 to get to the other end. The only sad thing there, was that I didn't have time to look around DFS. haha

Last dinner in Singapore with my loves!
Popeyes!! You know you love it!

Everything else went smoothly. Thai Airways feeds their passengers pretty well....I never went hungry!! I'm happy to say I never once carried my 25kg luggaage either. hahaha......Tilik carried it to the car to the airport, the trolley uncle helped me put it on the trolley, Aunty Joyce put it on the ramp for me and when I reached Copenhagen I had some issues pulling it off the belt, so another passenger pulled it off and onto the cart for me. muahahaha!! And when I came out to the arrivial hall, my baby was waiting for me!!! *happies*

Purple seat on the plane all the way from Singapore to Copenhagen! *happies!*
I think this is the Thai airport

lightbulb moment: You know you're noctournal when you're the ONLY passenger not sleeping

Things you might want to avoid: Wearing boots onto a plane. Apparently I could hide dangerous weapons in my boots so I had to take them off to scan. It was kind of awkward I must say, but then anyone could hide anything in a normal pair of shoes or jeans. jeez.....

We took the train to the country (we were staying at his parent's place for Christmas). The train station was so cute! Just like on tv! Except no platform 9 3/4 haha (though I heard theres one in London). When I arrived, the cold hit me! It was freezing! I guess a couple years in Singapore makes one forget there is different weather besides hot, hot and hotter! Good thing I carried on a coat in the plane! We took a cab from the station to the house and OMG I'm never complaining about Singapore's cab pirces again. for a mini distanc it was like SGD$40 (enough to bring me from one end of Singapore to the other. hahaha His parents (Bente and Soren Andersen) are so cute. lol Their house is very neat and nice and cosy! I had my first Danish dinner of a kind of meatloaf and potatoes. Delicious!

me baby picking me up from the airport!
Train station in the country. (I didn't take pics of the central station but I will next time!)
discovering there are no busses so we ordered a cab! It had a woman driving! *gasp!*the house
    dinner!!

The next day (Tues I think) we went on a little sightseeing trip! it was the bigger town Roskillde. There was the "walking street" thats made up of a bunch of little shops and doesn't allow cars. I was told that way way back Roskillde use to be the capitol of Denmark which explains the ginormous church right in the middle. We also went to the Roskillde mall for coffee and to pick up some stuff for Christmas dinner!

    crusin' da country
cute townI just HAD to take a picture!! its global you know! ;) and they have jalapeno poppers!
Plus a "Big Tasty" which is a normal burger with lettuce, tomatoes, beef, cheese AND a special sauce! yummm!!
the churchOh, I also had really good roasted carmalized almonds. OMG delicious! They're roasted outside by a street vendor =)~~selling bread out the back of a truck!
    pretty!..the tree la LOL
coffeethe pretty sunset on our way home......its like 4:30pm LOL

I also had Danish lunch and breakfast which includes a lot of bread, cheese, pickled herring, salami and black coffee/tea (Though I was allowed milk and sugar LOL). For dinner we had rice pudding that comes with sugar and cinnamon. It was nice, I enjoy it, but I couldn't say that I'd like to eat it every single day for dinner. hahaha

hehe we had kebabs before dinner =x They're so delicious! And they come with chili sauce. Apparently kebab and sharwama stores are popular in Denmark. Every other food store in Copenhagen is a Kebab/pizza/sharwama store =O
Henrik brought me to this famous house in Roskillde known for their Christmas spirit! hehehe *loves!God jul = Merry Christmas in Danish ;)
    Christmas beer and rice pudding!

That night we went to a Pool bar with Henrik's friends. Their smoking room is so wierd. It was indoors but had no doors or windows. Wierdos......there was no point in cornering the smokers!! Anyway, for public information, I whooped the guy's asses at fooseball. I'd whoop your ass too if you dared me! muahahaha!!!!

Christmas Eve is apparently more important than Christmas Day in Denmark. (I think its because the Danish are too impaitent to open presents! hahaha.......at least Henrik is =x) There were many children visiting in the morning to pick up their gifts. All the children love Bente its so cute! Shes like the neighborhood's favorite because shes so friendly and nice. She had bags of candy and lunch for all of the kids. Grandpa also came to stay for Christmas and he was nice too! I appreciated everyone's effort to speak to me in english ;)

    Christmas lunch!
    looking for presents!
    found some! lol

At around 4:30pm we went to church. It gets Dark here so early! The sun starts setting at about 4:30 and is completely dark by 5pm. (Sometimes I take afternoon naps because I think its later than it really is. hahaha shhhh don't tell anyone) Anyway, the church was cute. It had been around for like almost 400 years and the paintings on the wall were still there in faded ink. I love old churches.......theres just something so nice and peacful about them. The service started at 5 but the church was jam packed by 4:45. It seems the Danish like most other countries have more people on Christmas than any other days. Everything was spoken in Danish so I didn't understand but Henrik later translated the main points - Christmas doesn't have to be perfect because the first one wasn't either. It seems the pastor was humorous and it was nice to see everyone happy. =D

    The churchinside......notice the pretty ceiling
    tea and coffee
    making Christmas dinner

Henrik's brother Peter and his Girlfriend Joan and uncle Ole joined us for Chrismas dinner! There was roast duck, roast pork, 2 kinds of potatoes, cabbage and different sauces. yummm!! Also, the Danish drink ALOT. and I mean ALOT. Theres a different drink for like, everything. Christmas beer, ones to go with christmas dinner, ones only drank during christmas, normal beer and other stuff. I might have liked maybe 1 drink out of the lot because the rest were too strong! Theres also the cute tradition of the rice pudding game, where theres a single almond in the sticky lot and whoever gets it wins a prize! So everyone eats until the bowl is gone in hopes of getting the almond in one of the scoops. hahaha. I did not win this year....maybe next year ;)

    Christmas Dinner!
    rice pudding with cherry sauce

After dinner they had the weirdest tradition of dancing and singing around the tree. It seems that all Danish people do it. We had english and Danish songs. Then Santa came to visit! with gifts! hahhaa it was so much fun! He knocked on the door because we didn't have a chimney. hahaha. We opened presents later and I got a lot of nice presents though I wasn't expecting any. I got Hans Christian Andersen (Danish Fairytale writer-I'm sure you've heard of him, if not at least you've heard his stories- most famous being The Little Mermaid.) ornaments, cups, shampoo, a dress, a candle, handpainted bowl, album and some unmentionables among other things. hehehehehe Theres always coffee/tea with snacks aafter dinner too! *happies* I haven't had such a wonderful Chistmas in such a long time!

dancing around the treesanta came!singing around the treepresent opening! baby is sooo excited LOLSoren had the coolest tie with lights and christmas music! haha

Christmas day was relaxing! Woke up late, had more people visit and have lunch with us =D I think if i recall correctly, we ate and did nothing all day. We moved from breakfast to lunch without leaving the table!! And we visited Jeanette (Henrik's friends) and her family for awhile! I have to say the people of Kirke Soby are super friendly!

    Danish Donuts! Delicious!

On Friday, we went to visit Henrik's extended family (Father's side + Grandpa since his momma is an only child). We had a danish christmas lunch with liver something (which I don't like) and meatballs (omg yumm!!) and the usual bread, cheese, shrimp, herrings, potatoes. We also took a walk in the park to digest and sightsee. It was so foggy but so nice! The trees and ground was covered in white due to frost! even the pond had a thin layer of ice that had frozen over! When we got back there were Christmas games and more drinking!

    me and Ole
    Stefan and lærke
leverpostej (liver stuff im not too fond of)
    me and Henrik

    Christmas game!
    Henrik and his cousin's daughter

After the party, Peter, Joan, Henrik and I went fr dinner at an Italien place where we had great pasta! and saw a movie! OMG the movie prices are ridiculous! (about SGD$30 per pax) but the movie was good. We saw Australia! with Nicole Kidman and the wolverine man from X-men. I felt it was a bit long though. I thought it ended 2x before it really did...Pams rating is 3.98/5!

    Joan and Peter

Saturday was moving day! Soren rented a trailer to haul all of Henriks stuff to his apartment in Copenhagen. We live right next to the Nørrebro train station. We had to clean up the mess that was left behind by Henri's friend while he was in Singapore though. Its so amazing how gross guys can be! haha but everything was changed back to normal.

moving day! We saw a lot of other cars with blankets and other moving items as well.

Freja came to visit us with drinks! Later we went to a pub in the inner city. It was all Danish music (which I head was unusual as they usually played more english songs) but still nice to dance to. Fun stuff :D

    chillin'
    Dinner at a Kebab store
    pubbing
    dancinggg

Sunday was a busy day of more cleaning and unpacking. The next couple of days were a blur of running errands and preparing for the big New Years Eve party we're having. There is suppuse to be about 22 people for dinner and more people coming after! We made broccoli salad, pasta salad, bread, brownies and ice cream cake, strawberry-jello cheese cake, cream potatoes, and roast beef with gravy! yummmmm!!! We've borrowed tables and chairs, bought decorations and everything!!

    view from the window
doing the dishes!....which is how it should be....ALL THE TIME! muahahaha!!
change of foods! we had bagles instead of kebabs!
me taking a nap with the tiger because of all the hard work LOL
One of the days the guys were around and Michael had a back problem............so we fixed it! hehehe
then they got a little too helpful (--,)we went grocery shopping and found cute party hats! heheheIn Denmark you have to pay for the shopping bags! *gasp* which is good for recycling, bad for the wallet!and they recycle! 1 kroner (sgd$1 sgd= 3 kroner) per bottle!
we made brownies! and you all know we need a muscle man in the kitchen!ooooo sooo seksyyy
guys doing the dishes!we also made jello cheesecake! and apparently there is NO JELLO IN DENMARK! *gasp* I wouldn't believe it but in the end the truth is inevitable =( So I had to use jam (made in the same way as jello except the outcome is more soft) as a replacement! It still turned out swell though!we made pasta salad!the guys peeling 6kg of potatoes in the stairwell LOL!Freja came to help!Don't ask how he lost his shirt. hahahhahaShopping day! Henrik and I went to exchange some Christmas gifts due to wrong sizes and such;) We went to a mall called "Fisketorvet" meaning "Fish Mall" Ironically I've noticed that there are no fish in that mall, save for a few koi and gold fish. haha
the train on the way to the mall
Fish mallWe had lunch at an Italien buffet! =D hehe

Keep updated with the next post to see how it went!! I wish everyone a very happy new year and all the best! May you all have a great 2009 and keep reading! heehee! Love you!
