Heading towards the exciting part of the year!

October to December is always packed! I love this time of the year because there's always so many fun things going on! The weather also gets better (all around the world!), cooler and more fun. So far in the month, I've done a number of fun things already!

As you probably know, it's the Oktoberfest month! Henrik bought 2 sets of the Erdinger October fest kit! I think it's super worth it because you get 4 beers (2 dark, 2 light), 2 tall Erdinger glasses and 6 coasters for only $25! He says he plans on opening his own bar in our home (--,)

We went for a picnic together one Sunday at the Botanic gardens! It was muchos fun! The weather was nice and sunny, we each got some color! Though our colors differed slightly because he turns red instead of brown! LOL I made ham and cheese sandwiches, deviled eggs and tuna salad! We read and talked and watched people go by. Its amazing how many people were actually there. Having only recently discovered how nice a place it is to go, we realised that A LOT of people already knew about it. And I'm pretty sure the Filipinos moved from behind the Orchard Mrt to the Botanic gardens after the new mall Ion opened up (according to Lun). Boy are they rude and rowdy!

haha i had to take my straps off because I tan so quickly!

Anyway, it was nice to be outdoors for a change. After lunch, we took a stroll around the swan lake hoping to feed the swans. In the end we mostly fed the turtles and giant fish in the pond. The swans, being the only 2 (a couple, awwww) there is around, are extremely popular with the crowds. Not only that, I thought we had done well to bring wheat bread, but other visitors stepped their game up by bringing what looked like watercress! Tsk, next time I'll know better! We still really liked the turtles though. They seem like such friendly creatures, always swimming towards you!

    Henrik found some doves!
    and later a turtle!

That evening we had dinner with Levyne and Lun! They brought us to this super shady place called Farm Mart. Its basically a place where they house a couple of animals, a lot of plants and a small prawning pool with a huge coffee shop type building. It was actually a really nice experience! I felt a Little bad for the animals, because I don't think Singapore has the same animal protection laws as the US about the cleanliness or amount of space animals in captivity for display should have, but ok as long as they're not being abused. The food there is really good. I quite enjoyed it! We had pretty much everything from stingray, lala, chicken wings, kang kong, squid and others. Yum!

    bunnies!
    really scary goat!
dinner time!!! (no animals from the farm were hurt for this dinner)

Side note: For a place like that, their toilets were surprisingly clean!

As I mentioned earlier, October is the month for Oktoberfesting! One of the nights we just had to go to the Beer Market with Taco and Kelvin! Its this new pub at Clarke quay with a "stock exchange concept" where beer is the "stock"! I head it was a concept adopted from Spain, and I think it's a very cute idea! When more people buy a type of beer, the price goes up, the less people buy of a beer, the price goes down. The price fluctuates every half an hour. It's very interesting to try, and for the month of October, all German beers (they only have 2 kinds lol) are 1 for 1! We got 2 pints of Erdinger for only $16! lol

    Buy low, drink high!
it was super crowded so we had to sit at the bar first
    Me, Simon and taco!
    Henrik and Martin

Simon and Martin came to join us later in the night. Of course it was like 1am when Simon joined and he was smashed off his ass! He couldn't remember 3/4 of the night the next day! We even caught him sleeping on the toilet- he was sooo drunk! LOL good times!

ugliest picture ever! but oh so funny!
most epic picture of the night when Simon fell asleep on the toilet! LOL

And in honor of Simon, I will post California Girls for you all to sing along and dance with him next time!

More Oktoberfesting happened at our place the following Saturday! We had Jayce, Lev, Lun and EddIE over for dinner and of course, beer! We had everything from brats, sauerkraut, applesauce, rosti and even pork knuckle!! mmm Super spoiled! But super good! We had an awesome night!! Love you guys!

    October Feast!!
    EddIE snacking on dessert!
Lun and Lev brought some snacks from Taiwan! These are the charcoal thin cookies! I loved the maple thin cookies and the seaweed wasabi!! *drools*
lev made mango pudding!taught them how to open a bottle with a lighter!
    more beer!
    the different kinds we had!

I had shisa with Alex, Simon and a few other people at Cafe le Caire. The food is seriously amazing there! The shish kebab so tender and the appetizer mix is great because you get to try a little bit of everything! There was some belly dancing with a waiter blowing a whistle and lets just say he didn't have good rythm. lol. The belly dancer wasn't bad, but I wouldn't say she was the best I've seen. Shisha was good there with the airconditioning! And some music videos on the flat screen. lol fun times!

    Alex and Neo
    Super good food!

MORE drinking occurred at Susanna's place at Normanton Park on a Wednesday night! We had such a great time and such crazy videos! LOL Crazy people downed a whole bottle of vodka! W later headed to the bridge for more drinking and hanging out with the people I love!

Finally, something exciting happened this week! Henrik and I celebrated 2 years of being together! 2 years! That's definitely a reccord for me! (Hell, 8 months was a reccord for me LOL) He was so sweet and took me to Halia, Botanic gardens for dinner. The place was very nice and classy! The waiters were terrific, professional and friendly, smiling all the time. We each had the set meal (his with a different wine per course) and it was super scrumptious! They had fresh, warm bread to start. There were 2 kinds, one with a lot of grains (much to Henrik's liking) and Ciabatta!! My favorite bread!!

    Henrik's mushroom appetizer

The appetizers were super duper delicious! I had crab salad with avocado, he had wild mushrooms. Mushrooms aren't my favorite to begin with, but seafood is! It was a really nice combination with te avocado (the seafood taste was a little strong, but mixed was just nice!). The main course was duckbreast with veggies, japanese pureed sweet potato and a caramelised date. I never though about mixing sweet potato with butter, but that turned out to be a very nice combination. Henrik really liked the artichokes, but I was only ok with them. I liked the date, but my caramel was burnt =x The duck main was perfectly cooked, medium, tender, and the plate it was served on was warm. Loved it!

Dessert was perfect to finish the dinner with! I had a molten chcolate cake with ice cream and a fresh strawberry! The outside of my cake was very flavorful and crispy, the inside was uber savory! Accompanied by ice cream, it made for a very delicious dessert! Henrik had a creme brulee which was fantastic as well! I had the specialty ginger tea (Halia means ginger in Malay and it is in the Ginger garden of the botanis gardens) which was interesting. They give you a sho of honey to stir in, all imported from Vietnam. Kudos to this restaurant! (Though it best have been great with its price tag!) The botanic gardens is super romantic at night with its lamp-lit streets and benches.

We ended the night at Dan Ryan's Bar and grill for some drinks. Well, we actually tried to look for a bar, but it was too hot and too far, so we stopped at the closest place still open ;) hehe it was fun nonetheless, Dan Ryan's is completely ready for halloween! I loved the 20's decor in there, totally American! Thanks baby for a wonderful night! I love you!
