    Momma's Birthday and Easter!

    Happy Belated Birthday to My momma who turned a year older (only in body, not in spirit or mind, mind you ;)) on April 14th!!

    Everyone has been so busy with the election campign this year that they leave super early in the morning and come home late at night. So this year I decided to cook a feast for mom's birthday instead. With a lot of Henrik's help going to the market and cutting vegetabes, I made: crab cake appetizers, cheesy biscuits, roast pork, salad with honey mustard dressing, mshed potaoes and gravy! I was particularly proud of myself with the crabcakes and biscuits! Those will permanently be on my favorite recipe list!

    Crab Cakes!
    Family!
    Cheese biscuits!

    Afterwards, we had the cake cutting and present opening ceremony! We had ordered a small light chocolate cake from the bakery acorss the street. Its pretty god for an average bakery, but I wish there were better bakeries around. Henrik and I got momma a new bag for her birthday. I kinda knew it was what she wanted and needed, so everyone was happy! We even threw in a surprise brooch for Aunty Joyce because we missed (or were not invited to) her birthday party last month. No hard feelings though because shes given us so much and its best to spread the love anyway! *happies*

    hehe hand-made card by me!
    Presents!

    Anyway, I think everyone had a wonderful time! And just so everyone knows, I freaking rock at Scrabble! =D
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The second biggest event this month was Easter!! So Happy Belated Easter to all the Christians and Easter Bunny Believers! We were back at my parents in no time- yet again fixing food! I was super disappointed this year when I went to Cold Storage and they had run out of Easter buny chocolates and eggs and Peeps!!! WTF seriously? You gonna pull that shit a day before Easter?! Unfortunately, I had no one else to run to at the last minute and had to do without easter snacks :( However, Easter lunch turned out swell! I started making bacon spinach quiches the night before and hot crossed buns! With pretty much no sleep, I continued marketing in the morning roasting a lamb leg, making deviled eggs, peeling shrimp, fixing spring salad, asparagus, mashed potatoes, and made freaking amazing key lime pie!
    Easter feast!!
    My pastry!
    First hot crossed buns ive ever baked by myself!! Turned out pretty nice!
    We had the whole family over and I think they quite enjoyed it! Though they said the Key lime pie was too sour, I need to be reminded once in awhile not to spring surprises on Singaporeans. Stick to cheesecake, chiffon cakes and cocktail jelly. I had wonderful time anyway! We even dug out an old box of photo albums from the store room which was a big hit!! Everyone enjoyed reminiscing over the big hair, big glasses and retro pants! hahaha good memories are the best ways to make new good memories!
    April Showers Bring May Flowers!
    Happy April my loves! Its been a lot of fun and excitement this month. For those of you who don't know, my daddy is running in the election this year!! yay!! Go SDP! He will be contesting in Sengkang ;) Also this month, was momma's birthday, Bente's (Queen Pastry) birthday and Easter!! Finally, I need to remind myself to bring the camera out more often! I always tend to forget some of the super fun things I do! lol
    The Swedes, Henrik and I went to one of Swisshotel's helipad parties. It was actually super cool because they open to helipad till 10 and you can see every angle of the entire city from the top of the building! Gorgeous!!
    And speaking of the Swedes, we had Scando day!! They came over to make Swedish meatballs for dinner! Take that Ikea!! That plus yummy cheesecake and drinks after = amazing! Jag älskar dig!
    Freaking mouthwatering!
    April was also the start of Beauty Paws!! Nichelle's new pet grooming store! Pingy, Pastry and I went to the Grand opening in Toa Payoh one fine Sunday. The store is super cosy and purple :D I actually hang out at the store with Nichelle once or twice a week now, so if you have a pet to groom or supplies to buy, please drop by- even if its to say hi! ;) (That, or save us from the disgusting tikopek neighbor next door who stares at us like a starving gorilla through the glass door everyday.) For more information, visit: www.beautypaws.blogspot.com OR join the Facebook page!!
    Nichelle and a big shaggy dog!
    lol my fav babies
    food shelf!
    lol Nap time
    There were a few occasions out with Ravin!! Shopping and movies were just an excuse for swell gossip! We saw Sanctum, Rio in 3D and Lincoln Lawyer!!
    Sanctum (produced by James Cameron) was actually a pretty good movie for what they had. It was rather predictable with who was going to die and who was going to survive, but the suspense and energy keeping my heart rate pulsating was intense. I guess there is only so much you can do in a cave that other directors haven't done already. Pam's rating is 2.9/5
    Rio in 3D was amazing! and I have to admit that my pleasurable experience was definitely enhanced by the fact that was saw it in 3D! there were colors, dancing and songs! Love it! Storyline wise is very typical of cartoons and animated movies made for kids, keeping it simple with a main character that has confidence issues but in the end overcome them for love. Finding Nemo is still the best animated film ever, but Rio is a movie not to be missed! Pam's rating for Rio is 4.6/5
    Matthew McConaughey is so, extremely hott! And that makes the Lincoln Lawyer a wonderful movie already! Add his hottness plus the plot and literally plotting in this movie and it equals a pretty incredible movie. A client has him in a frustrating situation between breaking the law as a lawyer and doing whats right. The movie gets complicated, but the ending gives viewers a very triumphant feeling. Pam's rating is 4.8/5
    One evening, we had a potluck dinner at Martin's place of living! We brought Danish meatballs and Rodkol! Both of which I think I am awesome at making by now! The company was nice, the food was nice! There was such a variety like Swiss-German noodles, Iranian chicken cake thing, German fried potatoes, summer salads, ngo hiang and Chinese dumplings (super salty ones at that) and Tirimisu for dessert! Potlucks are freaking awesome! We ended the night with Nicholas and Mai for beers at Holland V. Great people, great times! :D
    More awesome people to have drinks with are Lev and Lun! Its always guranteed a laughing-till-your-stomach-cramps good time with them! *loves*
    I dragged Henrik to Tantric one night to meet up with Ravin and his cousin Vaenita and her boyfriend TJ who are visiting from Australia whom I'd met last year. It was a good day, pretty crowded as usual and their drinks are sooooo strong!! One of those blue spins could take a cow out!! I don't know if that much alcohol in a drink should be legal! lol
    But then again, theres been the many many wonderful nights that I've spent at Sluttica with my Swedes!! And just last week, we discovered that Lunar (the Cheena club so much so that they had chinese singing and none of their staff can speak a word of english) gives 5 free drinks for ladies on ladies night as well! I'd tell you more about my night, but I don't remember it!! LOL ok, except the fact that McDonalds shortchanged me by $10 and we went to Partyworld to sing Karaoke for an hour after that. Super freaking awesome times!! Will post pics when I get them ;)
    Pamela's life updates:
    • I'm super stoked my love Simon got a job in Singapore!! He'll be with me for at least another year!!
    • I'm also super happy that my 2nd favorite Dane, Jens is coming to Singapore for a week in June!! (Coincidentally the week of Beerfest (--,))
    Other random thoughts:
    • Do sperm have physical feelings? I saw ants attacking some protein the other day (Don't ask, you don't want to know!) and wondered if the nano swimmers had feelings. Ant bites hurt me, I don't see why it wouldn't hurt them. Its like live sashimi!
    • Talking to defensive, brainwashed Christans is like talking to a brainwashed PAP supporter. They both talk about things and forces you can't see and blame everything/everyone but themselves.
    • I am so addicted to sour chewy candy such as Sour Scoox and those long things you get at the candy store right now!
    • 4 more paddington bear stamps to go!!!
    • Can't wait to see Kate Middleton and Prince William's wedding of the century!! I'm jealous already!!
    Check back in Soon to check out how I spent Momma's Birthday and Easter in the East!!!
