    Awesome weekends (Part 1)

    July is the month full of fun weekends! Good weather and good fun! We went kite flying one day at the Marina Barage! It was gorgeous! I mad cupcakes and chicken crepes for the picnic among the cheeses and other things that grace and the others bought. The wind was good there for kite flying and we could even see the national day parade practices. Though it was all good fun, I feel like the area was over crowded with kites. Singapore seems to be getting more and more congested and doesn't have many open spaces for this kind of activity. Maybe they'll come up with virtual kite-flying soon. LOL

    Mr. Panda ran away :(

    Anyway, we had dinner with my fav couple Lun and Levyne at Din Tai Fung! The pastry was so happy because he got his favorite xiao long bao AND black vinegar! LOL so Asian. We also got to try their new Chili Crab Xiao Long Baos! They actually tasted really good and accurate! But the downside is that it's really expensive! but YUM! I could eat a whole basket! We ended the night at at Westcoast McDonalds! Good times! *loves*

    *Humph* Lun no wanna take pics with me!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    We had one particular weekend that we spent with my favorite Turkish man Ahmet!! We brought him for his virgin trip to Ikea!! Ohh Myyy goddd the line at Queensway Ikea was ridiculous!! People were literally queueing out of the restaurant! I mean Ikea food is cheap but classless, come on now, a least have a reason to go there besides just dinner!! Anyway, Ahmet had a good time exploring the place. Apparently Ikea has a bad reputation in Turkey so he never went. I think we've changed his mind!! (--,) I found the drawer that I want and Simon also found some glasses! woo hoo!
    My favorite boys all at one table!!!
    Ahmet Likes Ikea!!
    Boys playing house!
    After that, we headed to get some kunefe!! Favorite crunchy Turkish dessert!! We went to Sofra where the owner apologized for our mistreatment on Father's day celebration. Apparently, Turkish people complain as much or even more than Singaporeans! *gasp!*But it was still delicious! My fav is still at Arab street though. Will go there next time!
    Kunefe!!!!
    We tried to go to Mt. Faber later that evening, but it started raining :( so we ended up at Westcoast's McDonalds! holler!!! Good time, good people! I will have to visit Turkey one day if all Turkish people are as sweet as baklava!!
    butties
    hehehe
    There was a girls night out event with Pingy and Catherine!! We met up after 2 years to have dinner and catch a movie!! We had dinner at old town white coffee. It was actually quite nice! I was surprised with the bold flavor of the prawn noodles that I got. However, I feel like its a little expensive for local food. (I still love the prawn noodles at Holland V foodcourt!) The movie we saw was Larry Crowne with Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts. It was pleasant and quite funny to watch, but I did expect more since the lead roles are such highly regarded celebrities. Pam's rating for Larry Crowne is 4/5.
    My gurlsss!!
    Other Fun stuff: The best boyfriend in the world- which coincidentally is mine- bought me some flowers for being awesome!!!! They were gorgeous!! White roses surrounded with purple! YAY!!! *Loves*
    July Fun!
    Ahhh July, hottest time of the year in most countries! These are the best times to go to the beach, which is exactly what I did with Grace and crew! First Saturday of the month, we headed to Cafe Del Mar to tan and kayak! I hadn't been to Sentosa in awhile and boy did that place change a lot. They have so many (expensive) activites now including indoor skydiving! Woo! maybe I'll try one day ;)
    Helloooo Sentosa!
    boobies!
    chillaxing
    lol at Ronald's overpriced tourist tank top!
    beer!
    Good thing the kayaking was still cheap though at $12 (for 2 person kayak) an hour. After settling down at Cafe Del Mar, Grace, Ben and I took a couple kayaks out to sea (ok, desginated padling area)! We had so much fun visiting each island and playing in the water of each! Though the smooth fake sand was kind of nasty as it was air packed and tons of warm bubbles came up everytime it was squished on. hmmmm (--,)
    Awesomeness!
    Me and grace! lol
    island pit-stop!
    Me and Ben!
    we actually ended up out there for more than 2 hours but thankfully weren't charged LOL
    island number 2!
    my love!
    All in all though, it was a pretty amazing day. There was some chillaxing i the Del Mar pool, tanning on the beds and beer drinking on the side. We ended the day with dinner at the Thai restuarant at Bugis and drinks at Mr.Beans. Good times! :D
    HAPPY BIRTHAY AUNY NANCY!!!
    So as everyone should know, the 4th of July is a rather epic day as it is the US's independence day. Since moving to Singapore, I have missed it having celebrated it with bbqs and fireworks for most of my life. Coincidentally, my Aunty Nancy has her birthday on the same day! Therefore we still have someting to celebrate. Daddy made her a Mexican fiesta for dinner! There were nachos, fajitas (shrimp and beef) and salsa! YUM! For dessert, Henrik and I got her a mango cake! Yum Yum!
    mi casa
    Daddy teaching everyone the wonderful ways of Scoops tortillas
    YAY!
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Speaking of delicious, diet-wrecking food items, my favorite Turkish man Ahmet brought back some Baklava from the motherland for me!! There were both pistachio and walnut baklava!! *loves* You wouldn't believe how yummy, sweet, crunchy pastries can light up your day! Thanks Ahmet, You're as sweet as Baklava and watch out for my diet-wrecking chocolate chocolate chip cookies!

    gah!! opening the box like his hands were on fire!!
    If god is turkish and heaven is made of baklava, then Ahmet must be jesus!! ♥

    Other things middle eastern: I made my own hummus! I love love love hummus and always get it when I'm on arab street. But I can't say I love the pries so much for humus there, so one day I decided to make some myself! I found a wonderful recipe online and bought the ingredients, turning them into rather sucessful, rather scrumptious hummus!

    Make your own basic hummus!
    Blend together:
    2 cans chickpeas
    juice of 1 lemon
    sesame paste -aka tahini (I roasted and blended sesame seeds but didn't quite like the texture though the flavor was nice)
    pinch of salt
    a teaspoon of paprika
    couple teaspoons of minced garlic

    drizzle olive oil over finished product

    The Happs at Beauty Paws!

    In the past few months, I've been making visits to Nichelle's pet grooming store at Toa Payoh every once in awhile. Everything is going well! There were many many hamster babies that were born to different mothers. The cute little monsters are now going up for adoption! love it!

    favorite!
    so well fed!!so many babies!!
    hehe little boost to reach the food!
    friends!
    cuddle!

    Other than the usual grooming, I must say that Toa Payoh is a seriously fucked up location of Singapore. In the past 3.5 months of the store opening, there has already been a couple incident involving, drunks, molesters, dirty old men and the police! Theres probably something in the water making everyone there crazy. Well, there have been a couple nice people, but I think the mentally troubled ones are more overwhelming than the ammount of sane. Anyway, I still wish Nichelle all the luck in the world for her store becuse she does awesome grooming jobs in my opinion ;)

    shower!!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Henrik and his coleagues found a cheap place for bowling at the Clementi recreational center. Though I missed it due to shopping and lazy reasons, I met them afterwards with Pingy and Nichelle at Sunset way. It was a good night of drinks and people at some overpriced Japanese restaurant with super good service.
    This night led to awesomeness and attempted planking by me and Pingy. LOL Planking: An activity, popular in various parts of the world (originating in Australia), consisting of lying face down in an unusual or incongruous location. For more information click HERE. lol Good times.
